'30 Model A

This Model A has been a great project for us to work on, especially working with the customer. It is a beautiful car driving down the road.

'30 Model A

This 30 Model A Ford was brought to us as an in-process project. The drive line was already installed and tacked into position. It has a 5.0 Ford engine with an AOD transmission. The customer had done a nice job for a beginner builder. He asked us to verify that the work he did was done correctly and to finish it as well as filling the roof, repairing the fender wells, making and installing floor pans, finishing the cowl, fitting and installing the fenders, running boards, running board aprons, hood and grill.

The roof panel came from a donor vehicle and was supplied by the customer. Once trimmed and welded into place it looks like it belonged there from the beginning.

Darrin was working on the roof braces. This angle of the roof shows how nice the contours came together. the roof panel was completely TIG welded into place.

We use the customer supplied roof support bows to support the new roof panel. This worked out wonderful.

Model A Here we have most of the body panels fitted. Its starting to look like a car!

Model A

We ended this project in April, 2007 because our customer had unfortunate health problems, and in May, 2007, he passed away. He loved this car and in his honor, his wife brought it back to Tin Man to finish the job. The car should be finished by Spring, 2008.

This shows the rear fender well after repair. Also note the new floor panels.

The master cyclinder and booster were relocated to rear of the car for clearance. A combination block was used instead of a dial-style proportioning valve.

We machined in-house the brake-assembly bar and modified a universal brake lever. In place of brackets, we machined a "through frame mount" with grease zerks.

The body and all major components have been installed and fitted. Now its time to take it apart for finishing.
